If in doubt, please contact Information Systems at extension 7004. Tonight the Moscow Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend the Duplex Code Ordinance to City Council. Send it back and ask them to raise the bar on their work: More ordinances adds cost to city operations thru inspections. I’ve heard the budget is tight. You all know housing, much less entry level housing is in short supply. During the campaign, the mayor said there’s little the city can do about supply. Well here’s one thing you can do- don’t add regulations Send this back to them with the requirement to come back with a recommendation that reduces total ordinances and reduces friction on entry level housing. Maybe they still keep this ordinance but focus them on solving the total problem. Dear Mayor Lewis and Council Members, I oppose the proposed Duplex Code Ordinance amending Title 4 of the Moscow City Code. Moscow has a housing shortage and this ordinance will make it worse by increasing construction costs without reducing demand. The result will be higher rents, higher home prices, and more renters pushed into unsafe arrangements, especially students and low-income families.
