Exercise caution when clicking links or opening attachments. If in doubt, please contact Information Systems at extension 7004. Dear Mayor Lewis and Council Members, I oppose the proposed Duplex Code Ordinance amending Title 4 of the Moscow City Code. This ordinance will only make the housing shortage worse by increasing construction costs without reducing demand. The result will be higher rents, higher home prices, and more renters pushed into unsafe arrangements, especially students and low- income families. Please vote NO on this. Tightening the rules does not reduce the number of people who need somewhere to live. When legal duplex configurations get harder to build, renters do not disappear. They double up. They take makeshift arrangements. They end up in housing the city has even less ability to inspect.
