Federal PAC data from the FEC is included where it connects to Idaho races. This means you can trace national money as it enters the state through intermediary PACs and lands on specific candidates.
Node totals count all recorded inflows and outflows, including federal filings. They can differ from the itemized state donation totals shown elsewhere on this site.
Some entities show a total but no visible lines: counterparties below the $5,000 display cutoff are not drawn.
Search: Type a name in the search bar. A dropdown shows matches. Click one to zoom to it.
Click a dot to lock it. The graph highlights every entity connected to it and dims everything else. The panel in the bottom right shows who sent money in and who received money out, ranked by amount. Click the same dot again to unlock.
Money Chain Trace: With a dot locked, slide the "Money Chain Trace" slider from 1 to 5. At 1, you see direct connections. At 2, you see who those connections connect to. At 3, three steps out. The edges change color by depth: gold (direct), orange (one step), red (two steps), purple (three), gray (four and five). Each connected entity shows a number in brackets indicating how many steps it is from the one you selected.
Print Report: Click this to open a formatted report showing every connection, grouped by degree, with amounts and flow direction.
Export CSV: Downloads the same data as a spreadsheet. Every row includes the degree, entity name, type, party, connection path, flow direction, and dollar amount.
Node Spacing: Slide to push dots apart or pull them together.
Min Activity: Filters out entities below a dollar threshold. Slide right to see only the biggest players.
Stories: The Stories button in the header opens a list of preset traces on known money networks. Pick one to load it. When a dot is locked, the info panel shows a Copy Link button that builds a link to that exact trace, so you can share it with anyone.
Red dots are Republican candidates. Blue dots are Democrats. Green dots are candidates with no party listed or a third party. Yellow dots are PACs. Orange dots are companies and corporate donors. Pink dots are vendors (people and firms that campaigns pay for services). Purple dots are political parties. Gray dots are individual people.
